The Norwegian Competition Authority Approves Acquisition of Eplehuset
The Norwegian Competition Authority (Konkurransetilsynet) has today decided to approve Elkjøp's acquisition of Eplehuset. The acquisition can therefore proceed as planned.
"We are happy and relieved. We have been confident all along that a thorough review of the facts would result in approval, and that is where the authority has now landed," says Øystein Flisnes Husby, Director of Strategy and Business Development at Elkjøp Nordic.
"The Competition Authority has an important role to play in society, and we have great respect for that. At the same time, this has been a long and demanding process for everyone involved, not least for the employees at Eplehuset. Now, more than anything, we are glad that we can finally look ahead," says Flisnes Husby.

Throughout the process, Elkjøp has provided extensive documentation and analysis to the authority. This has required a great deal of time and resources, but has also helped to shed light on the case: Apple products are sold by many players in Norway, both in stores and online, and Elkjøp and Eplehuset have different concepts that complement each other.
"Eplehuset has specialist expertise in Apple that we hold in high regard. Together, we will give Norwegian consumers an even better offering. We look forward to welcoming Eplehuset's skilled staff," says Flisnes Husby.
The acquisition will be completed as soon as possible.
