Elgiganten's Niclas Eriksson Appointed CEO of Elkjøp Nordic

Eriksson takes up his new role as CEO of Elkjøp Nordic on August 1, 2026. With his extensive experience from both the Swedish and Nordic retail markets, he was the natural choice to continue the company's development.

Niclas Eriksson began his journey at Elgiganten as a store salesperson in 1995, and has since held the roles of store manager, sales manager, marketing manager, operations manager, and, for the past 14 years, Managing Director of Elgiganten Sverige. After 30 years with the group, he now becomes CEO for the entire Nordic region.

Record-strong results

Elkjøp Nordic is the Nordic region's largest player in consumer electronics and home appliances, offering products and services that make everyday life both easier and more enjoyable. The company is also a significant supplier of technology solutions and equipment to the business market.

The Nordic group that Niclas Eriksson will now lead has more than 10,000 employees and operations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland. Elgiganten AB is the market leader in Sweden and the largest business unit within the group.

After several challenging years marked by high inflation, rising interest rates, and reduced consumer spending, Elkjøp has succeeded in significantly strengthening its profitability. In the 2025 fiscal year, Elkjøp Nordic surpassed 50 billion Norwegian kroner (NOK) in revenue for the first time. The company also delivered an operating profit of NOK 1.3 billion, corresponding to an operating margin of 2.6 percent.

Eriksson takes over a record-strong Elkjøp Nordic from Fredrik Tønnesen, and will report directly to him in his new role. In early June, Tønnesen was appointed Group CEO of Currys, the UK-listed owner of Elkjøp Nordic. Prior to this, he led Elkjøp Nordic for three years, having previously served as CEO of Elkjøp Norge.

Niclas Eriksson

The right person for the job

"We are very pleased to appoint Niclas Eriksson as CEO of Elkjøp Nordic, and I look forward to working closely with him. He has demonstrated outstanding leadership throughout his 30 years with the company, and I am both convinced and confident that he is the right person to carry forward our strategy and deliver on our ambitions," says Fredrik Tønnesen.

"I am absolutely certain that Niclas will succeed in this role, together with all our talented colleagues across the Nordics. Strong cost discipline, excellent customer advice and service, and continued development of our record-high levels of customer and employee satisfaction will be crucial to our future success. Niclas can look forward to a lot of hard work, but above all, the opportunity to lead a winning team."

A broad product range, attractive purchasing agreements, and highly efficient logistics have long been important competitive advantages for Elkjøp. Combined with strong sales channels and well-run stores, these strengths enable the company to offer competitive prices and fast deliveries, whether customers shop online or in one of the more than 400 physical stores across the Nordics.

Set up to succeed together

"I look forward to continuing the work of strengthening our group in a highly competitive market. My many years at Elgiganten have taught me that the best results are achieved through teamwork. I always strive to be an inclusive, open, and attentive leader, while holding high expectations for both myself and the people around me. Innovation, pace, and flexibility are hallmarks of our culture across the group, and these are values I will continue to build on going forward," says Niclas Eriksson.

"The world is changing fast, and technology is becoming increasingly important, both as a professional tool and as a source of experiences and convenience in everyday life. Elkjøp plays an important role as a trusted advisor and enabler, helping people simplify their everyday lives and get the most out of the technology in their homes."

Niclas Eriksson is also a highly respected figure in Swedish retail. He holds several board positions, including deputy chairman of Elektronikbranschen and chairman of the board of Nordsport (owner of Intersport and Löplabbet).
